Production In Charge/Supervisor - Ferro Silicon Plant
Summary
Supervises daily ferro silicon plant production at a Kuwait steel facility, managing shift manpower, monitoring submerged arc furnace operations, and ensuring safety, quality, and cost-control compliance. Uses SAP PM/MM modules for work orders and materials reporting, and reports performance to the Plant Head.
- Supervise daily ferro silicon production activities across assigned shifts to ensure continuity of operations.
- Control furnace operations and production sequencing in line with approved production plans.
- Monitor production output, recovery percentage, product quality, and operational efficiency.
- Identify operational deviations and take corrective actions within approved procedures.
- Allocate manpower for multiple shifts and guide InCharge personnel and operators during operations.
- Monitor attendance, shift handovers, and task execution to ensure effective workforce utilization.
- Provide on-the-job guidance and coaching to In-Charge staff and operators to improve operational discipline and skills.
- Monitor usage of raw materials, consumables, and power against approved norms and targets.
- Report abnormal consumption, losses, or inefficiencies to the Plant Head.
- Support optimization initiatives related to material handling and power utilization as directed.
- Monitor furnace recovery percentage, yield, and product quality parameters.
- Ensure adherence to approved operating parameters and quality control instructions.
- Support cost efficiency by controlling wastage, rework, and operational losses.
- Ensure compliance with plant safety rules, safe work procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Enforce adherence to ISO standards, audit requirements, and internal control procedures.
- Report and follow up on incidents, near misses, hazards, and non-conformities.
- Support implementation of approved process improvement, modernization, and efficiency initiatives.
- Prepare and submit daily and shift-wise production reports, consumption data, and deviation summaries.
- Provide inputs to production planning reviews and budget monitoring as required.
- Mentor and train In-Charge personnel and operators on operational procedures and safety practices.
- Support competency development initiatives as directed by the Plant Head.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgical, Chemical, Industrial or related
discipline.
- Diploma: Minimum 7 years of ferro silicon operations experience in steel industry or heavy industry operations including at least 2 years team lead role.
- Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum 5 years of ferro silicon experience in steel industry or heavy industry operations including at least 2 years team lead role.
- Experience in ferro silicon or similar ferroalloy smelting operations involving submerged arc furnaces.
- Experience in high-temperature, power-intensive industrial operations.
- Strong working knowledge of ferro silicon / ferroalloy production processes, including Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) operations, burden preparation and charging, smelting, tapping, and casting activities
- Ability to monitor furnace stability, power input, and basic operating parameters
- Understanding of raw material quality impacts (quartz, coke, coal, reductants) on furnace performance, recovery, and product quality.
- Ability to supervise and allocate manpower, tools, and resources.
- Proficient in SAP PM and MM modules for work orders, materials, and basic reporting.
- Ability to verify production output, recovery performance, and product quality.
- Ability to maintain accurate shift and production documentation and records.
- Ability to report performance results, issues, and improvement actions.
- Strong troubleshooting, leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
- Strong adherence to safety Standards, SOPs lockout/tagout and emergency procedures.
