People Operations Intern
People Operations Intern
- People Team | Dundee (Hybrid, with at least 2 days per week in our Dundee office)
- Full-time or part-time (minimum 25 hours per week)
- FTC until 31st March 2026
At DC Thomson, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We're looking for an organised, curious and people-focused People Operations Intern to join our People Operations team and gain hands-on experience across a broad range of HR activities.
This opportunity offers flexibility and can be worked either full-time or part-time (minimum 26 hours per week), making it ideal for someone studying towards a qualification, returning to work, or looking to build experience alongside other commitments.
You'll play a key role in delivering an excellent colleague experience, supporting everything from onboarding new starters and maintaining people records to responding to employee queries and helping ensure our HR processes remain compliant and efficient.
Working closely with colleagues across the People Team, Payroll, Finance and the wider business, you'll gain valuable exposure to all areas of people operations while developing practical HR knowledge and skills. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and support our ongoing digital transformation journey, helping us identify smarter and more efficient ways of working.
No two days are the same. One day you might be welcoming new starters, preparing onboarding documentation and carrying out Right to Work checks. The next you could be supporting HR reporting, assisting with payroll administration, raising purchase orders, or helping manage contractor and freelancer processes.
Whether you're looking to take your first step into HR or build on existing administrative experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn, develop and make a real impact within a supportive and collaborative team.
Requirements
We're interested in individuals who are organised, professional and eager to learn. You may already have some HR or administrative experience, be studying towards a HR qualification, or have gained transferable skills through work, education or volunteering.
You'll bring:
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- The ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately to deadlines.
- A proactive mindset with a desire to learn and continuously improve how things are done.
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Previous experience in an HR, administration, customer service or support environment.
- Experience using HR systems or working with people data.
- An understanding of HR administration activities such as onboarding, contracts or payroll processes.
- A CIPD qualification (or currently studying towards one) or relevant postgraduate study.
