We are currently seeking two Pest Management professionals to join our team in Taranaki on a full-time, fixed-term basis as part of the Mt Messenger Alliance Project.
Pest Management Field Worker
This hands-on role is predominantly field-based, with approximately 80% of your time spent working outdoors in remote and rugged terrain. You'll play an important role in protecting native forests and biodiversity through pest monitoring and control activities.
Pest Management Field Worker / Administrator
This unique role combines approximately 50% field-based pest management work and 50% administration and operational support. You'll contribute to conservation outcomes while supporting operational planning, reporting, documentation, and data management activities.
Both positions are offered as 12-month fixed-term opportunities with the potential for extension and may occasionally require overnight stays in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations (Both Roles)
Install, maintain and service pest traps and bait stations across the pest management area
Monitor pest activity using tracking tunnels, wax tags and cameras
Deploy and monitor pest control operations and associated infrastructure
Collect, manage and accurately record field and monitoring data
Maintain equipment, vehicles, field huts and tracks
Work safely and collaboratively within a team environment
Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance operational efficiency
Support biodiversity and conservation initiatives across the project
Additional Responsibilities for the Field Worker / Administrator Role
Support daily briefings and operational planning
Assist with the management of field data and ArcGIS systems
Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting
Support field data collection processes and contractor training activities
Provide administrative support to the Operations Manager
Assist with monitoring reports and operational documentation
Coordinate information and maintain effective communication with stakeholders

To be successful in either role, you will have:
A high level of physical fitness and a willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Confidence working in remote and rugged terrain
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A Full Class 1 Driver's Licence
A willingness to learn new technology, equipment, and field-based techniques
A positive attitude, initiative, and strong work ethic
Good communication and organisational skills
A genuine interest in conservation, biodiversity, and protecting New Zealand's natural environment
For the Field Worker / Administrator Role, we would also value:
Strong administration and data management skills
Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
Experience with ArcGIS, or a willingness to learn
Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities
