Summary
Remote PHP developer building and maintaining WordPress websites (custom themes, plugins, WooCommerce), Laravel/Core PHP applications, and REST/third-party API integrations using MySQL, MVC, Git, and Composer. Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools like Claude Code and Drupal is a plus.
This is a remote position.
We are looking for an experienced PHP Developer with strong knowledge of Core PHP, WordPress, Laravel, MySQL, MVC architecture, REST APIs, and third-party integrations .
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites, custom plugins/themes, WooCommerce solutions, Laravel applications, web applications, and API integrations . Familiarity with modern AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, maintain, and support PHP-based web applications.
- Develop and maintain WordPress websites, custom themes, plugins, and WooCommerce functionality .
- Develop and maintain applications using Laravel, Core PHP, MySQL, and MVC architecture .
- Write clean, reusable, secure, and maintainable Object-Oriented PHP (OOP) code.
- Work with WordPress hooks, filters, REST APIs, AJAX, and custom functionality.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs and third-party APIs.
- Integrate third-party services such as Shopify, BigCommerce, Google APIs, HubSpot, Stripe, PayPal , and similar platforms.
- Work with MySQL databases, including database design, queries, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Develop custom eCommerce websites, CMS platforms, web portals, and business applications .
- Use Git/GitHub for source code management and version control.
- Manage PHP dependencies using Composer.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.
- Identify and resolve application, database, API, and integration-related issues.
- Optimize applications for performance, security, scalability, and reliability.
- Work with Linux/Apache hosting environments and assist with deployment when required.
- Follow coding standards and software development best practices.
Requirements
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of PHP / Core PHP.
- Strong hands-on experience with WordPress development.
- Experience developing custom WordPress plugins and themes.
- Good experience with WooCommerce.
- Strong knowledge of Laravel and MVC architecture.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Strong knowledge of MySQL and database concepts.
- Good knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, JSON, and XML.
- Experience with REST API development and third-party API integration.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and Composer.
- Good understanding of web security, debugging, and performance optimization.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Third-Party API & Integration Experience
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Shopify API
- HubSpot API
- Stripe
- PayPal
- REST APIs
- Webhooks
- OAuth / API Authentication
Advanced / Additional Skills
The following skills are not mandatory, but will be considered an advantage:
- Working knowledge of Claude Code or similar AI-assisted coding tools.
- Experience using AI coding assistants for code development, debugging, refactoring, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to effectively use AI-assisted development tools while maintaining coding standards, security, code quality, and best practices.
- Experience with Drupal development and customization.
- Experience with Drupal modules, themes, and APIs.
- Experience with Linux and Apache.
- Experience with website/application deployment and hosting environments.
- Knowledge of Redis, caching, queues, and background jobs.
- Experience with Docker or cloud hosting environments.
- Understanding of software design patterns and scalable application architecture.
