PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST

Summary

Plan and conduct physical security surveys, evaluate compliance with policies, and design/implement access control systems for a federal agency.

This position is located with the Departmental Office, Terrorism and Financial Intelligence- Office of Intelligence and Analysis. As a PHYSICAL SECURITY SPECIALIST, you will plan, initiates, and conduct surveys throughout the organization for a variety of physical security purposes. Evaluates compliance with existing security policies, regulations, and procedures.

Pursuant to 50 USC 3024 (v), and with concurrence and consultation with the Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management, this position is being established in the excepted service as an element of the Intelligence Community within the Department of the Treasury. The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. Evaluates new or different types of security systems and equipment for application within the organization. Included are personnel access controls, physical protection devices, monitoring equipment, security forces, alarm and detection devices, vaults, gates, fences, advanced locking devices, etc. Develops procedures, systems, and evaluation plans for establishing, operating, and assessing the effectiveness of control systems to prevent waste, loss, unauthorized use, or misappropriation of HSPD-12 PIV assets. Serves as expert in matters of Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) as it relates to card issuance and Physical Access Control Systems (PACS). Provide technical solutions, guidance, design, and implementation for state-of-the-art security systems. Works with subject-matter specialists in developing statements of need, descriptions of work, and other considerations relating to the security requirements under a contractual arrangement. They assure that security is considered in the earliest stages of procurement planning and that all requirements are fulfilled. Provides information, advice, and guidance to employees, supervisors and managers, contract personnel, and the public regarding the full range of physical security issues.

Key Requirements: Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. If no certification is made before the probationary (or trial) period ends, your appointment will be terminated. You are encouraged to actively engage with your supervisor, seek feedback, and understand role expectations. Additional guidance and support will be provided during onboarding. Must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a Top Secret security clearance based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). Must be eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. Must successfully complete a background investigation. All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws. A review of financial or other interests may be conducted to determine if they create any real or apparent conflict of interests with official Treasury duties. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
