Evaluates preschoolers for physical therapy needs in New York City public schools, conducting interviews and in-person assessments to produce written reports.
Position Vacancy – Physical Therapy Evaluator
The Home and Community-Based Program evaluates preschoolers for special education for the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). Physical Therapy Evaluations are one type of evaluation completed. Physical Therapy Evaluations are provided to children between the ages of 2.6 and 4.6.
Responsibilities:
Schedule the evaluation with the school or family
Conduct parent/teacher interview
Conduct in-person child evaluation
Score and provide a written report with the results of the evaluation within 10 days of the evaluation
Qualifications:
- Must have NYS certification as a Physical Therapist
- Knowledge and experience of preschool physical therapy evaluation tools including the Peabody Developmental Motor Scales
- Knowledge of and experience with DOE/CPSE/CSE regulations and methods of obtaining services for families
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
Start date: Immediately
Salary: $185 per evaluation
