Additional Job Description:

West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurology in the WVU School of Medicine are recruiting a Neurohospitalist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) for Wheeling Hospital. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Wheeling, WV.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of neurology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents.

  • 7 on/7 off schedule
  • Telestroke support
  • Expectation to cover 26 weeks/year

Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical licensure. Successful candidate must have completed a Neurology residency program and must be board eligible/certified in Neurology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Wheeling Hospital has served the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, Eastern Ohio and parts of Pennsylvania longer than any other hospital in the state. The hospital has 247 beds and a medical staff of 230 primary care and specialty physicians. In addition to the hospital, the complex includes the Continuous Care Center, Wheeling Renal Care, and the Howard Long Wellness Center. Connected to the hospital are four medical office buildings where 80 physicians have their private offices.
