Position Summary
NextCare is seeking a Part-Time Supervising Physician to provide remote clinical oversight and support for up to seven Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) practicing within our Texas urgent care clinics.
This is a flexible, primarily remote opportunity for a Texas-licensed physician interested in supporting experienced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants without taking on a traditional patient-facing schedule. The Supervising Physician will provide clinical consultation, required chart review, prescriptive delegation, and ongoing oversight in accordance with Texas requirements and NextCare clinical standards.
Routine in-clinic shifts are not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as supervising physician for up to seven NextCare APPs
- Provide prescriptive delegation and clinical oversight for assigned Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants
- Remain available for clinical consultation and questions as needed
- Complete required chart reviews and supervisory documentation
- Maintain required supervision and prescriptive delegation agreements
- Support APPs with clinical decision-making when consultation is needed
- Partner with NextCare medical leadership regarding clinical or quality concerns
- Promote adherence to NextCare clinical guidelines and standards of care
- Maintain all required Texas licenses, registrations, and credentials throughout the assignment
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Texas MD or DO license
- Board certification in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another applicable specialty
- Active DEA registration
- Eligible to supervise and delegate prescriptive authority to APPs in Texas
- Strong clinical background in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or outpatient care
- Comfortable providing remote clinical oversight and consultation
- Strong communication skills and clinical judgment
- Ability to complete required chart reviews and supervisory responsibilities in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants
- Prior urgent care or emergency medicine experience
- Familiarity with Texas APP supervision and prescriptive delegation requirements
- Experience with clinical quality review or medical leadership
