Physician - Outpatient Psychiatry and Medical Directorship

Position Overview
This role focuses on providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing treatment for adults in the outpatient setting.

In addition to providing outpatient psychiatric care, this role will serve as Medical Director for both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health services. Responsibilities include clinical leadership, participation in inpatient treatment team meetings at least three days per week and scheduled inpatient weekend coverage as part of the provider coverage team.

Role Responsibilities

Outpatient Psychiatrist and Medical Director responsibilities include:

• Conduct psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide medication management and ongoing therapeutic support for patients with a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
• Collaborate with PMHNPs, nurses, and therapists as part of a treatment team.
• Provide supervision of PMHNPs, as needed.
• Offer co-signatures for therapists to support clinical documentation.
• Contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in an outpatient environment
• Round on patients in the inpatient unit as scheduled
• Conduct Treatment Team meetings a minimum of 3 times per week for the inpatient unit
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory standards for psychiatric care
• Protected Administrative time for Medical Director Responsibilities

Call Responsibilities (if applicable)

Outpatient psychiatrists share on-call duties with all full-time inpatient PMHNPs at Deaconess Jennie Stuart in Hopkinsville, KY.

• Weeknight coverage: Responsible for call a minimum of 10 days per month (5:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.), responsible for triaging intake calls, providing dispositions, and issuing admission orders.
• Weekend coverage: Approximately one time every 3 weeks, responsible for triaging intake calls and rounding on inpatients Saturday and Sunday.

Candidate Qualifications

We are seeking a psychiatrist with the following qualifications:

• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry (MD or DO)
• Eligible for or currently holding an active medical license in Kentucky
• Experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry and familiarity with intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other members of an interdisciplinary team
• Excellent communication skills
