Planning Engineer
Description
JASARA PMC is seeking an experienced planning engineer to join our expert team. This position involves developing and managing comprehensive schedules for infrastructure works, ensuring timely and efficient project delivery. As part of JASARA PMC, you will contribute to the successful execution of high-profile infrastructure projects pivotal to Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to optimize project workflows.
Job responsibilities
- Support in planning and scheduling own work to meet required timelines and outputs.
- Ensure that risks are captured, raised to the team, and offer mitigation solutions.
- Assist with scope planning – specifying the in-scope requirements for the project to facilitate creating the work breakdown structure.
- Support in producing the project schedule and maintain as per consultant/contractor schedule.
- Support adherence to the schedule, schedule management plan, planning processes, and ways of working.
- Coordinate with the commercial function in relation to implementing an effective controls system on budget, cost, report, risk, and change management.
- Review prepared schedule data for proposals or contract negotiations.
- Assist with resource planning – to indicate the levels of resources.
- Support in identifying potential and occurring problems affecting the work schedule at the site and recommend solutions to the relevant team/department.
- Continually improve the quality of schedule presentation, information, and documentation.
- Assist in clarifying the needs of the team to ensure the delivery of effective services.
- Support in producing project progress tracking and reporting.
- Recommend appropriate improvements, ensure optimal project schedule quality, and evaluate reports.
- Assist with producing the baseline/target schedules for submission.
- Weekly/monthly updating of schedules as design and construction work develops.
- Respond accurately and in a timely manner to team queries regarding the content of the schedule submission.
- Assist in integrating inter-discipline schedule requirements and constraints to establish logical work sequences for assigned disciplines or specialties.
- Support in identifying key interfaces.
- Assist in coordinating project controls/cost function to implement an effective controls system.
Requirements
- Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in engineering, architecture, construction management, business management, or relevant field of study.
- Primavera certification (preferred).
- Recognized project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) desirable.
- 8-10 years’ relevant planning experience working within complex design and construction programs across private and/or government sectors.
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing business requirements.
- Effectively manages and prioritizes workload and delivers to tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal skills in English.
- Demonstrate proficient use of enterprise-level management software, such as P6, MS Office (Excel, Word) – preferred skills include Power BI.
- Leverage existing relationships to identify and develop client relationships and provide strategic input to maximize project outcomes.
- Analytical and thorough, with strong problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
