Platform Engineer – ERP Data Platform (Roche Digital Technology)
A SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) Datasphere Platform Engineer/Architect leading the technical strategy and operational framework for our BDC ecosystem, driving modernization of legacy SAP BW/4HANA environments to SAP Datasphere.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical strategy and operational framework for our BDC ecosystem.
- Lead the modernization of legacy SAP BW/4HANA environments to SAP Datasphere.
- Design and implement “Architectural Guardrails” and assess S/4HANA backend readiness focusing on CDS view compatibility.
- Oversee the technical lifecycle of Datasphere Spaces, provisioning/decommissioning, resource allocation.
- Maintain CI/CD blueprint for the Data Model Lifecycle across 4 tiers (Sandbox, Development, Test/Quality, Production) and optimize Flexible Capacity Unit model.
- Architect complex bi‑directional data sharing (Zero‑Copy) between SAP Datasphere and external ecosystems like Snowflake, ensuring performance with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and existing DataOne architecture.
- Embed compliance and governance, integrate GxP and ICFR qualification evidence, manage automated platform vulnerability patching.
- Collaborate with Data Teams to enforce metadata management and tagging strategies for marketplace publication and Collibra synchronization.
- Architect robust security access designs, including IAM strategies and data privacy/masking layers (GDPR/CCPA compliance).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data architecture or platform engineering, migrating legacy SAP systems to cloud-native platforms.
- Deep technical understanding of SAP BDC Datasphere architecture, administration, hands‑on data modeling, and strong proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure) and network/security protocols, ensuring TLS 1.2+ compliance.
- Strong background designing CI/CD pipelines for data products, enabling automated promotion across multi-tier landscapes.
- Familiarity with Data Mesh concepts, domain-driven design, translating business requirements into technical architectures (preferred).
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in English, working across Data Engineering, Business, and Security teams.
