Position

Platform Engineer - ERP Data Platform

Roche Digital Technology (RDT) is where innovation meets purpose. As a global team at the heart of Roche, we are a community of business-minded technologists committed to help shape tomorrow’s digital future of healthcare. Our mission is to power Roche through cutting‑edge digital technologies, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, data, and scalable tech innovations.

At Roche, we offer a hybrid work model that combines flexibility with in‑person collaboration. For now, we require our employees to be in our offices on average two days per week. The specific office days may vary depending on business needs, such as workshops, conferences, town halls, team meetings, and other collaborative events.

As the SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) Datasphere Platform Engineer/Architect, you will lead the technical strategy and operational framework for our BDC ecosystem, driving the modernization of legacy SAP BW/4HANA environments to SAP Datasphere. In this role, you will act as a vital bridge between foundational platform engineering, regulatory compliance, and business domain-driven data productisation. You will join a forward-thinking team dedicated to building scalable, inclusive, and cutting‑edge data solutions that empower global healthcare discovery.

Opportunity

  • Lead and define the Business Data Cloud (BDC) Solution Architecture, ensuring seamless technical alignment with global "Cloud First" and data mesh strategies.
  • Design and implement critical "Architectural Guardrails" alongside deep-dive assessments of S/4HANA backend readiness—focusing on Core Data Services (CDS) view compatibility—to maintain a highly compliant, scalable, and audit-ready environment.
  • Oversee the technical lifecycle of Datasphere Spaces, governing everything from automated provisioning and resource allocation to decommissioning standards.
  • Maintain the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) blueprint for the Data Model Lifecycle, facilitating automated promotion across our 4-tier landscape (Sandbox, Development, Test/Quality, Production) while optimising the Flexible Capacity Unit (CU) model.
  • Architect complex, bi-directional data sharing (Zero-Copy) between SAP Datasphere and external ecosystems like Snowflake, ensuring high-performance integration with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) and existing DataOne architecture.
  • Embed essential compliance and governance directly into the platform setup, integrating Good Practice (GxP) and Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) qualification evidence while managing automated platform vulnerability patching.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Teams to enforce metadata management and tagging strategies required for marketplace publication and seamless Collibra synchronization.
  • Architect robust security access designs, including Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategies, data privacy/masking layers (ensuring GDPR/CCPA compliance), and global data modelling design standards.

Who you are

  • Education: You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Years of Experience: You bring 5+ years of professional experience in data architecture or platform engineering, with a proven track record of migrating legacy SAP systems to cloud-native platforms like SAP Datasphere.
