Platform engineer
We are looking for a Platform Infrastructure Engineer to support the operations and maintenance of enterprise container platforms and shared infrastructure services. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of platform services and COTS components supporting mission-critical applications.
More senior candidates will be considered for Platform Infrastructure Lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support Day 2 operations for container platforms, middleware, databases, and enterprise platform services.
- Install, configure, patch, and maintain Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, and enterprise COTS products such as MongoDB, MSSQL, NGINX, Apache, IBM MQ, Kafka, ArcGIS, and Keycloak.
- Monitor platform health, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and optimize platform performance.
- Support platform upgrades, patching, backup, disaster recovery, and lifecycle management activities.
- Collaborate with application, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to support deployments and resolve technical issues.
- Configure monitoring, logging, and observability tools to improve platform reliability and operational visibility.
- Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and support continuous improvement through automation and operational best practices.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, or enterprise system administration.
- Strong knowledge of Linux (RHEL), Windows Server, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Docker, and VMware.
- Experience with enterprise middleware and COTS products including MongoDB, IBM MQ, Apache, NGINX, MSSQL, Kafka, and ArcGIS.
- Familiarity with Ansible, GitLab, Grafana, Prometheus, backup/recovery, and ITIL processes.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
- RHCSA/RHCE, VMware VCP, or MongoDB Administrator certifications.
- Experience in government or other highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and platform security best practices.
