Policy and External Affairs Communications Lead

You will translate complex policy developments into clear, credible messages and steer external communications across policy and external affairs. You will explain regulatory topics in plain language to diverse audiences and collaborate with policy, legal, risk, and other teams to ensure accurate, consistent narratives. You will manage media relationships, contribute to op-eds and editorial boards, and support engagement across channels during high visibility moments.

Responsibilities

• Lead communications strategy across policy and external affairs to drive economic empowerment for customers and sellers.
• Partner with Policy, Legal, Risk, and other teams to shape external narratives.
• Ensure policy positions are accurately and clearly reflected in external communications, particularly in high visibility moments.
• Advance policy positions through ongoing engagement across media, digital platforms, and industry forums.
• Build and manage external engagement strategies, including media relationships, op-eds, editorial boards, and industry dialogues, and support broader communications initiatives as needed.
• Ensure the voice in policy conversations is clear, consistent, and trusted.
• Translate complex regulatory issues into simple, durable narratives that resonate externally.

Requirements

• Strategic storyteller with a background in policy communications public affairs or issues driven storytelling in a technology or regulated environment
• A builder mindset capable of redesigning tools workflows and playbooks of a modern communications function
• Ability to translate dense policy topics into clear human language and to work across product engineering legal and business teams
• Excellent writing skills experience engaging external stakeholders
• Willingness to collaborate with diverse teams and to operate in a fast paced environment
• Experience in a technology or regulated industry is preferred
