Roles & Responsibilities:

Dr. John E. Mindur will perform research at the Cardiovascular Research Center. The project will primarily focus on studying the mechanisms of interleukin-3 in autoimmunity in the central nervous system as a follow up to interleukin-3 in autoimmune myocarditis. Specifically, Dr. John E. Mindur will examine how T cell-mediated IL-3 propagates inflammation in the spinal cord via signaling on microglia/macrophages and through driving the differentiation of monocytes into monocyte-derived DCs. Required skills and knowledge include an understanding of autoimmune inflammatory diseases, mouse handling and injection technique, flow cytometric analyses, immunohistology and molecular biology.

Dr. Mindur will participate in authoring and/or co-authoring publications and presentations and will be expected to work collaboratively with Dr. Swirski and other colleagues in the laboratory to promote the advancement of ongoing research projects. Other duties include participation in research/academic meetings. The candidate will be expected to function efficiently and cooperatively with a team of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate/undergraduate students, and other members at the CRI.
