Are you a meticulous and experienced PostgreSQL expert with a passion for performance, security, and data integrity? A forward-thinking technology firm is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to join their growing team and help scale, maintain, and optimize mission-critical databases that support enterprise-grade applications.
- Manage, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL environments (community and enterprise editions).
- Design and optimize database architecture, replication, HA, and backup solutions.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and conduct tuning and root‑cause analysis across large‑scale environments.
- Lead Oracle‑to‑PostgreSQL migration projects and ensure compatibility across platforms.
- Collaborate with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams for seamless database integration.
- Enforce security policies, access controls, and best practices.
- Provide Tier 1 to Tier 3 support to internal teams and external clients.
- Create documentation, build knowledge bases, and mentor junior DBAs.
- Participate in on‑call rotations and provide after‑hours support when needed.
- Support technical pre‑sales and client solution architecture as required.
Qualifications:
- 5–8 years of hands‑on DBA experience, with a minimum of 3 years focused specifically on PostgreSQL.
- In‑depth experience with enterprise‑grade PostgreSQL platforms and tools.
- Strong advantage: Background in Oracle Database administration or migrations.
- Proven expertise in:
- Performance tuning and optimization.
- Backup and recovery strategies.
- Replication (streaming and logical).
- Proficient in Linux command‑line operations and scripting (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Experience with PostgreSQL monitoring and diagnostic tools such as pg_stat_statements, Prometheus, pgBadger, etc.
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative in high‑pressure environments.
