Six-month contract (extendable) for a hands-on Power BI Developer in Sydney (hybrid) at $700–750/day. The role designs and maintains Power BI dashboards, data models, DAX measures and Power Query transformations, connecting to SQL and cloud data sources and partnering with business stakeholders to deliver enterprise reporting.

As a Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining high-quality Power BI reporting solutions. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver intuitive, scalable and effective analytics solutions.

As a Power BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining high-quality Power BI reporting solutions. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver intuitive, scalable and effective analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports and data visualisations
- Develop robust Power BI data models using best-practice modelling techniques
- Build and optimise complex DAX measures and calculations
- Develop data transformation processes using Power Query / M
- Connect Power BI to a range of data sources, including SQL databases and cloud platforms
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into effective BI solutions
- Optimise existing reports, datasets and dashboards for performance and usability
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency and appropriate governance across reporting solutions
- Work collaboratively with data engineers, analysts and wider technology teams
- Provide documentation and support for developed BI solutions
- Contribute to Power BI standards, best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
You will be a hands-on Power BI Developer with strong technical capability and a proven track record of delivering enterprise reporting and analytics solutions.
Essential skills and experience:
- Strong commercial experience developing solutions using Microsoft Power BI.
- Advanced DAX skills.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, including star schema principles.
- Strong experience with Power Query / M
- Solid SQL skills.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong understanding of data visualisation and dashboard design principles.
- Experience gathering requirements and working directly with business stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and deliver within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Azure, Azure Synapse or Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with Power BI Service, deployment pipelines and workspaces.
- Experience within large enterprise or complex environments.
- Relevant Power BI or Microsoft certifications.
- 6-month contract with potential for extension
- $700–$750 per day package
