SUMMARY:
The Pricing & Merchandise Analyst is an individual-contributor role responsible for retail and cost pricing strategy and product lineup architecture across the merchandising division. This role sets and maintains price points, price families, and margin targets, and manages the structure of the product lineup (good-better-best positioning, item rationalization, and assortment gaps) that the rebuying team executes against.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop and maintain retail pricing strategy, including price-point architecture, margin targets, and price-change governance across categories.
  • Analyze cost changes from vendors and recommend retail price adjustments to protect margin while remaining competitive.
  • Maintain the product lineup structure (good-better-best tiers, price-family gaps, item counts per category) and flag lineup gaps or overlaps to merchandising leadership.
  • Partner with rebuyers on new item setup, cost updates, and item deactivation to ensure pricing accuracy at the point of entry.
  • Conduct competitive price benchmarking and market analysis to maintain unique pricing models geographically.
  • Model the margin and lineup impact of proposed assortment or pricing changes before implementation.
  • Maintain pricing and lineup documentation/reporting for use by the VP of Merchandising and category teams.
  • Audit live pricing for accuracy and consistency across systems and channels.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related analytical field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in pricing analysis, merchandise planning, or category management; retail or furniture industry experience preferred.
  • Strong Excel modeling skills; experience with pricing or business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
KEY COMPENTENCIES:
  • Strong quantitative and financial modeling skills, with sound judgment on margin trade-offs.
  • Ability to translate pricing/lineup analysis into clear recommendations for non-analyst stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail; comfortable owning pricing accuracy across a large item count.
  • Self-directed; capable of prioritizing analytical work without day-to-day oversight of a team.
