Principal Engineer (AI & Central Command)

Overview

Sr AI Specialist is part of the Smart Manufacturing team at Nexperia Seremban. The site is expanding and will become the largest backend factory for Nexperia. The role drives data and AI adoption to convert the factory into a smart factory, focusing on Command & Control, Smart Decision and Automation pillars. The specialist leads the command and control function while influencing all three pillars.

Responsibilities

• Deliver usable AI solutions for smart decisions across equipment/process management, output management, quality management, and people/skill/training management.
• Develop self‑learning AI solutions to capture engineering knowledge in real time and build a factory digital brain.
• Ensure the digital brain operates as a chatbot, training partner, key decision maker, and smart machine process controller within a multi‑layer architecture.
• Develop decision analytics and smart analytics within the digital brain solution, enabling engineers to run data analysis directly on the big‑data data lake via chatbot.
• Integrate image AI into machine control and improve connectivity for low‑level shop floor automation.
• Train NexGem trainees on data analytics and prepare next‑generation advanced analytics engineers.
• Drive real‑time analytics and data‑driven management through central command and central reporting on the big‑data platform.
• Lead discussions on investment and business value in steering committee meetings.
• Deploy and monitor solutions, ensuring support in all shifts for real‑time machine control data availability.
• Act as an innovation partner, connecting with outside universities, thought leaders, and bringing new solutions to Nexperia.

Qualifications

• Graduate engineer (Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or Computer Science).
• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Data Science is an advantage.
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience across various data exposure areas.
• Last 5 years dedicated to AI.
• Proven ability to work with multi‑cultural, multi‑location teams.
• Experience in large project implementation related to supply‑chain management, factory scheduling, and big‑data data lake architectures is a plus.
• Proven track record of ideating and developing unique data‑science solutions.
