Principal Engineer
You will define long-term architecture for payments, platform, data, integration, and operational systems. You will design secure, resilient distributed systems, lead cross-functional modernization initiatives, establish engineering standards, and guide AI, stablecoin, blockchain, and payment-technology decisions. You will mentor senior engineers and translate business priorities into practical technical solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive long-term technical architecture across payment, platform, data, integration, and operational systems
- Design scalable, resilient, secure, highly available distributed systems
- Lead complex cross-functional engineering initiatives
- Drive modernization, scalability improvements, and technical-debt reduction
- Establish standards for architecture, reliability, observability, security, testing, and operations
- Lead AI transformation initiatives
- Design and implement AI-agent, LLM-workflow, automation, and developer-tooling systems
- Shape strategy for stablecoins, blockchain, digital assets, and payment rails
- Evaluate emerging technologies, settlement mechanisms, fintech protocols, and platform investments
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders
- Advise executive and engineering leadership
- Translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions
Requirements
- Approximately 12–18 years of software engineering experience
- Experience at Staff+, Senior Staff, Principal Engineer, Architect, or equivalent level
- Expertise in distributed systems, backend architecture, API, microservice, cloud infrastructure, and event-driven systems
- Hands-on software engineering and architecture capability
- Experience leading complex initiatives across multiple teams
- Experience influencing technical strategy without direct authority
- Experience in fintech, payments, financial services, or a high-scale regulated technology environment
- Understanding of scalability, data consistency, reliability, security, fault tolerance, and production operations
- Communication skills for explaining technical trade-offs to executive and non-technical audiences
