Principle Full Stack Engineer - Liverpool - 2 days a week in office - up to £95k

A well-established organisation in the automotive marketing space is hiring a Principal Full Stack Engineer to join at a key moment of transformation. Their platforms power high-intent buying journeys, processing hundreds of thousands of customer interactions each year for some of the world’s biggest automotive brands.

They’re now rebuilding a core platform from the ground up on a modern Node.js stack, while reshaping the engineering function around an AI-first approach. Strong foundations are already in place, but there’s still plenty of greenfield and real opportunity to shape both the product and how the team operates.

The role:

Principal Full Stack Engineer (backend-leaning). You’ll be central to the rebuild, shaping architecture, setting standards and working directly with product and leadership. Small, senior team. High ownership.

What you’ll do

• Lead design of key parts of a brand-new platform
• Build and own backend services, APIs and data pipelines at scale
• Make architecture decisions that the wider team builds on
• Stay hands-on while mentoring senior engineers
• Partner closely with product and leadership on priorities and trade-offs
• Help embed AI tooling into everyday engineering workflows

What we’re looking for:

• Deep expertise building production systems in Node.js / TypeScript
• Strong full-stack background with React & Next.js
• Proven track record making architectural decisions at scale
• Cloud experience in Azure preferred, AWS/GCP welcomed
• Already using and embracing AI coding tools in day-to-day development
• Senior presence with the ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive technical direction
