Job Responsibility:

  • Review of critical engineering deliverables
  • Develop and review Layout.
  • Guide other disciplines for critical design document development.
  • Provide input to other discipline based on established previous experience in mineral beneficiation process/hydrometallurgical processing and material handling projects.
  • Converse with interdisciplinary workflow process for mineral beneficiation process/hydrometallurgical processing and material handling projects
  • Arrange and chair overall plot plan review. Ensure that notes and actions from this review are taken and issued promptly.
  • Arrange and chair weekly Project Engineering meeting. Ensure that notes and actions from these meetings are taken and issued promptly.
  • Attend weekly Lead Engineer’s meeting.
  • Drive Mechanical Design Review
  • Attend Constructability Review
  • Drive 3D model review
  • Deputies for Project Engineering Manager and undertake planned Project Engineering Manager's responsibilities where authority is appropriately delegated.
  • Review progress regularly with Lead Discipline Engineers and Area Project Engineers, understand key issues preventing progress and assist in resolving these issues.
  • Appraise Project Engineering Manager of all issues impacting on quality and key issues affecting progress.
  • Provide input into the Project Needs List, Risk Register, Action Log and Technical Decision Log and assist in the preparation of project instructions.
  • Coordinate engineering change management activities across the whole Project, Generate Project specific procedures and instructions relating to Project Engineering
  • Review and approve subcontract requisitions.
  • Coordinate Engineering input to document distribution matrix and ensure matrix is regularly reviewed and updated.
  • Identify filing systems requirements and ensure these are properly documented.
  • Coordinate the capture of all engineering lessons learned ensuring that these are submitted into the Company system for corporate review.
  • Monitor status of actions arising from QA and departmental audits and expedite their closure where required.
  • Produce end of project report for Project Engineering activities

Skill and qualification

  • Graduate in Engineering (Essential) Mechanical/Chemical
  • Postgraduate in Engineering (Desirable)
  • Membership in Professional Organizations (Desirable)
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Design Engineering environment with lead role for 7 years in discipline project execution (Essential) in mineral beneficiation process processing and material handling projects process/hydrometallurgical processing and material handling projects
  • Ability to lead medium teams in a multi-discipline task force-based engineering / lumpsum services environment.
  • Proven expertise in, Pre-Feasibility studies, Feasibility studies, FEED and EPC Engineering execution including Field Engineering in for Phosphate-Beneficiation, Phosphate Granularization, Phosphoric and Sulphuric Acid projects
  • Expertise in Design Reviews (Desirable)
  • Experience of all aspects of multi-discipline projects
  • Performs most assignments independently with instructions as to the general results expected. Receives technical guidance from Engineering Specialists or Supervisors on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed project plans.
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foresee problems.
