Principal Software Engineer

Salary: AUD 130 - 140 per hour

Duration: 12 Months (Up to 2 extension options not to exceed 24 months)

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Software Engineer to work across enterprise integration platforms, with a strong focus on IBM DataPower and IBM API Connect (APIC).
The role involves designing, implementing and supporting integration solutions, providing technical guidance, resolving complex technical issues and ensuring high-quality delivery across development and production environments.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure and support IBM DataPower and API Connect solutions.
• Analyse existing systems and business requirements to develop effective integration solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across software development and integration projects.
• Support solution design, development, testing, deployment and production activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and integration issues.
• Optimise platform performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, designs and implementation reports.
• Apply industry standards, best practices and established development methodologies.
• Identify and manage technical risks throughout project delivery.
• Support platform maintenance, upgrades, patches and ongoing improvements.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with IBM DataPower and API Connect (APIC).
• 3–5 years of experience delivering software/integration projects within defined quality standards.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise integration technologies.
• Experience designing, configuring and supporting DataPower and APIC environments.
• Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and integration patterns.
• Experience preparing clear and comprehensive technical and solution design documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver within tight deadlines.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge transfer.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
