Principal Software Engineer
As a
Principal Software Engineer , you will be responsible for the software design and development of external customer products. You will utilize a range of applicable technologies (e.g., cloud development operations, agile technologies, programming languages, compilers, assemblers, debuggers, and other tools) for product lines. Your role focuses on modifying existing software products to add new functions, adapt to new hardware or software environments, improve performance, or enhance product usability. You will participate in product development in all stages from planning and design to development, testing, and documentation. Key Responsibilities: Provide full design, planning, configuration, documentation, deployment, and top-level support ownership of relevant technologies Use Scrum framework and Agile philosophy to develop software solutions that meet business requirements Lead or participate in the software development lifecycle, which includes research, new development, modification, security, correction of errors, reuse, re-engineering, and maintenance of software products. Actively engage in Scrum Events collaborates with the team in backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, standups, and retrospectives. Delivers products within budget, schedule, and quality guidelines Apply principles of Built-In Quality and Quality By Design. Implement Agile Testing, Test-Driven Development (TDD) & Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices to ensure built-in quality and automation. Promote continuous integration, continuous delivery and continuous testing in software development processes Drive idea generation for new software products or the next version of an existing product Protect Intellectual property by working with appropriate legal elements (e.g. procurement, patents, open source) Essential Requirements: Master's degree in Computer Science or related field with
7+ years
of experience in software engineering or platform development. Strong experience in full-stack development and proficiency in languages like
Python, Java, or Go . Hands-on experience with
AI-assisted development tools
(e.g., GitHub Copilot, CodeWhisperer) or integrating
LLM-based services into engineering workflows . Proficiency in
containerization
(Docker, Kubernetes) and deploying applications on platforms like OpenShift. Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and enterprise software delivery. Desirable Requirements: Experience implementing
AI-driven automation
for testing, security, or performance optimization. Familiarity with
Dell solution platforms
(e.g.,
VxRail ,
PowerStore ,
PowerFlex ) and enterprise infrastructure. Familiarity with
virtualization
and
hypervisor
technologies, especially VMware vSphere/ESXi, vCenter, and related ecosystem components. Knowledge of
hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI)
and
enterprise storage solutions,
including VMware vSAN and Dell PowerStore. Understanding of
network virtualization
and
SDN
technologies, particularly VMware NSX, including concepts like VXLAN, distributed switching, and micro-segmentation. Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift for
container orchestration
and integration with virtualized environments. Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Helm) and CI/CD practices for enterprise environments.
