What You'll Do

We are seeking a talented and passionate Principal Software Engineer (Mobile) to join our International Mobile Team. The ideal candidate will have experience as a tech lead and a strong development background in mobile-first architectures using Swift (iOS) or Kotlin (Android). Expertise in backend integration using GraphQL (desired) and a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable mobile applications are essential. You will collaborate with product teams, designers, and architects to design, develop, and enhance reliable and easy-to-maintain mobile infrastructure.

About the Team

This team focuses on delivering exceptional mobile experiences to support customers, associates, and business needs across Walmart International, which includes operations in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico, and South Africa.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Guide and mentor a team of mobile engineers, conducting code reviews and leading design discussions to ensure engineering best practices.
  • Architectural Leadership: Define and maintain the mobile architecture strategy to ensure scalability, performance, and seamless integration with backend systems (including GraphQL APIs).
  • Software Craftsmanship: Consistently deliver high-quality mobile code with an emphasis on testing (unit, UI, integration) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop comprehensive technical documentation to communicate design decisions and architectural approaches clearly (Pe.ADR; Architecture Design Record)
  • Engineering Advocacy: Promote technical standards and best practices, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and innovation.
  • Project Leadership: Lead major project phases, aligning designs with technical requirements and business objectives.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, UX/UI teams, Quality Assurance, and DevOps to deliver exceptional mobile products.
  • Innovation & Research: Stay up-to-date with the latest in mobile technology trends, including new Swift/Kotlin features, GraphQL integrations, and emerging frameworks/tools.
  • Ensure security and compliance: Promote and enable security standards, regulations, and corporate security policies

What you´ll bring

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 5+ years in mobile app development (Swift/Kotlin).
  • Proven track record of building and delivering large-scale, high-quality mobile applications.
  • Proficiency in API integration (REST, GraphQL preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of design patterns, mobile architectures, and best practices for iOS and Android.
  • Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications.
  • Familiarity with backend technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP).
  • Expertise in debugging and troubleshooting mobile performance issues.
  • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers.
