Transmission Investment Procurement Manager
This is a key management-level role within our growing business, responsible for developing and delivering procurement strategies that support major infrastructure and energy projects across the UK.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, you will lead commercial procurement activities across a diverse portfolio of projects and operational contracts, ensuring value for money, effective supplier relationships and robust governance throughout the procurement lifecycle.
This role is suited to an experienced Procurement Manager who has operated at management level within the energy sector. Energy sector procurement experience is essential, and a current MCIPS qualification is preferred.
The role will be primarily based in London, with travel to Glasgow and other project locations as required.
Our hybrid approach supports work-life balance while creating opportunities for colleagues to collaborate and learn together. For most roles, this means working from our London or Glasgow office two days per week.
What you’ll be doing:
In addition to the development of the 700MW interconnector, LirIC, between Northern Ireland and Scotland, we are currently managing a synchronous compensator at Blackhillock, Scotland. We also aim to participate in competitive onshore transmission auctions.

What you’ll be doing:
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies that align with business and project objectives.
- Managing end-to-end procurement activities, including market engagement, sourcing, tendering, evaluation, contract negotiation and award.
- Leading complex commercial negotiations with suppliers, contractors and professional advisers.
- Developing and implementing effective procurement policies, procedures, systems and templates.
- Preparing high-quality tender evaluation reports and clear recommendations for senior decision-makers.
- Ensuring procurement activities comply with company policies, governance requirements, relevant legislation and industry best practice.
- Identifying opportunities to improve value, supplier performance and procurement efficiency while managing commercial and supply chain risk.
- Coordinating input from engineering, planning, consents, finance, legal and project delivery colleagues throughout the procurement process.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, project partners, suppliers and contractors.
- Managing strategic supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance.
- Supporting major project procurement activities from development through construction and into operations.
- Monitoring market trends, supply chain capacity and emerging procurement risks and opportunities within the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Requirements
You must have:- Significant procurement experience at Procurement Manager level or above.
- Proven procurement experience within the energy sector.
- Strong experience of strategic sourcing, competitive tendering, tender evaluation and contract negotiation.
- Demonstrable experience of managing complex supplier, contractor and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong understanding of procurement governance, commercial risk allocation and contract management.
- Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams on complex projects or packages of work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
It would be useful if you have:
- Current MCIPS qualification and active professional membership.
- A master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting major infrastructure, transmission, renewable energy or capital project programmes.
- Experience of EPC contracting and FIDIC forms of contract.
- Experience of working in a regulated or joint venture environment.
- Knowledge of high-voltage, offshore, marine installation, cable and/or overhead line procurement.
