Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
At NZ Post, we're delivering for Aotearoa New Zealand today while building the future of how people, businesses and communities connect. Within Data and Technology we are growing a modern product practice that puts customer needs, data-driven decision making and measurable outcomes at the centre of everything we do.
As a Product Owner, you'll help define and deliver the work that creates the greatest value for our customers and business. Working as part of a cross-functional product team, you'll partner closely with Product Managers, engineers, quality engineers, business stakeholders and customers to understand problems, validate opportunities and continuously improve the products and capabilities your team supports. You'll play a key role throughout the product lifecycle, from discovery and prioritisation through to delivery and outcome measurement.
We are looking for a Product Owner to join our award-winning Data & Technology team, recognised at the CIO Summit for a transformative programme that modernised how NZ Post works, delivers value and serves customers. It's an exciting time to join a team that is growing product thinking, embracing innovation and shaping the future of our organisation.
You'll do that by:
- Partnering with Product Managers and stakeholders to understand customer, business and operational challenges and helping to explore problems, test assumptions and shape potential solutions. Using customer insights, data and business context to help prioritise work and guide decision making.
- Maintaining and refining a product backlog that reflects strategic priorities, customer needs and business outcomes.
- Breaking down complex problems into clear, testable and deliverable increments that maximise learning and value delivery.
- Collaborating closely with engineers, quality engineers and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes through iterative and agile ways of working.
- Making informed trade-off decisions that balance customer value, business needs, technical considerations and delivery constraints.

You'll bring:
- Experience working in a Product Owner, Senior Business Analyst, Product Analyst or similar role in an agile environment
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across technical and business teams.
- The ability to translate complex problems into clear priorities and actionable outcomes.
