Product Owner (Liquidators and Auditors)

The team

The RegistryConnect program is focused on the stabilisation and targeted uplift of business registers including designing connections to the ABN and Director ID registers held by the ATO, and the more than 30 registers held by ASIC.

The role

The Product Owner, Liquidators and Auditors, drives delivery of RegistryConnect capabilities by managing the feature backlog, translating business and regulatory requirements into delivery-ready outcomes, and supporting teams to deliver secure, effective and customer-focused solutions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Translate policy, legislative, business and customer needs into prioritised, delivery-ready product outcomes, requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Support the Product Manager to shape and deliver the backlog from discovery through to go-live.
  • Own and manage the feature backlog, ensuring alignment with RegistryConnect priorities.
  • Lead feature discovery, analysis and design workshops to define business and regulatory solutions.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality feature documentation, business rules and supporting artefacts.
  • Collaborate with business, policy, legal, data, architecture, UX/UI and delivery teams to define and prioritise requirements.
  • Ensure features align with One ASIC design principles and support secure, trusted and efficient registry services.
  • Present feature intent, recommendations and outcomes to senior stakeholders to drive alignment and decision-making.
  • Manage product enhancements and technical changes to meet business and customer needs.
  • Identify and communicate risks, dependencies, trade-offs and decisions across customer, regulatory, operational and technology considerations.

About you

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or 6+ years' experience in product ownership, business analysis, service design, digital delivery or a related field, with demonstrated Product Owner experience delivering outcomes in complex, multidisciplinary environments.
  • Proven ability to translate business, legislative, regulatory and operational requirements into clear product decisions, requirements and delivery artefacts.
  • Experience managing and prioritising product backlogs across the product lifecycle, from discovery through to delivery.
  • Strong product judgement, balancing customer needs, regulatory obligations, operational considerations and technology constraints.
  • Experience working with Agile delivery teams in government, regulatory or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience in registry, compliance, government service delivery or similar regulated product domains. Experience with application and ongoing obligation processes is highly regarded.
  • Ability to operate effectively in evolving environments, driving continuous improvement and establishing practical ways of working where processes are not fully defined.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, facilitation and relationship management skills, with the ability to build consensus across business, policy and technology teams.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, including leading workshops and presenting recommendations, risks and trade-offs to senior executives.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex policy, service and delivery challenges.
