Product Owner – Transport & Logistics SaaS
Slipstream | Sydney CBD | Full-Time
Help shape the next generation of transport & logistics technology
Slipstream is an Australian technology company who design & develop modern transport management solutions designed specifically for complex transport and logistics operations.
Following significant growth across our customer base and development team, we're looking for an experienced Product Owner to take day-to-day ownership of our product workflow and help translate customer and business requirements into high-quality development outcomes.
This is a hands-on product role for someone who enjoys getting close to customers, understanding how businesses actually operate, solving complex workflow problems and then working closely with developers to bring those solutions to life.
You'll work directly with our Founder / CTO, Head of Platform, Operations team, customers and software developers, giving you significant exposure to both the commercial and technical sides of a growing SaaS business.
What you'll be doing
You'll take ownership of the day-to-day product process from customer problem → discovery → requirements → development → validation → release.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading discovery sessions with new and existing customers to understand their workflows, pain points and requirements.
Translating customer and business requirements into clear product specifications, workflows, user stories and Jira tickets.
Owning and maintaining a clear, prioritised product backlog.
Ensuring requirements are properly scoped, validated and ready before entering development.
Working closely with our Head of Platform to refine requirements, identify dependencies and prepare work for development.
Coordinating sprint priorities with our Operations and Platform teams.
Managing requirements and clarifications throughout the development lifecycle.
Coordinating customer validation and User Acceptance Testing.
Monitoring scope changes and helping prevent uncontrolled scope creep.
Supporting release readiness, release notes and product communications.
Continuously improving the way we manage discovery, requirements, delivery and customer feedback.
The role also has a strong commercial focus. You'll need to understand the relationship between product priorities, customer commitments, project milestones and revenue, not simply manage a backlog.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who can combine strong product discipline with commercial thinking and excellent communication skills.
You'll ideally have:
Previous experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Product Manager or similar SaaS/software delivery role.
Strong experience translating complex business requirements into clear development requirements.
Experience working directly with software development teams.
Strong Jira, backlog management and product documentation skills.
Experience facilitating customer discovery and requirements workshops.
A good understanding of Agile software development and sprint-based delivery.
Experience coordinating UAT and validating delivered functionality against requirements.
The confidence to challenge a request and understand the underlying business problem rather than simply documenting what has been asked for.
Strong stakeholder management skills across customers, developers and senior leadership.
Commercial awareness and an understanding that software delivery needs to achieve measurable customer and business outcomes.
Experience within transport, logistics, fleet management, ERP, supply chain or operational SaaS platforms would be highly regarded, but isn't essential.
The type of person who will succeed at Slipstream
You'll enjoy working in a growing business where things move quickly and where you can have a genuine influence on both the product and how we work.
You're likely to be someone who:
Likes getting into the detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
Is naturally organised and brings structure to complexity.
Can communicate comfortably with a transport operator one minute and a software developer the next.
Takes ownership rather than waiting for someone else to drive an outcome.
Asks good questions and isn't afraid to challenge assumptions.
Understands the difference between a customer request and the underlying problem that needs solving.
Values clarity, accountability and getting things finished.
Is interested in how AI and automation are changing both software products and the way product teams work.
Why Slipstream?
You'll be joining Slipstream at an exciting stage of our growth.
Rather than inheriting a mature product where your role is simply maintaining an existing backlog, you'll have the opportunity to help shape a platform that is continuing to evolve alongside some of Australia's leading transport operators.
You'll work closely with our senior leadership team and have direct access to customers, developers and the people making product decisions.
Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to see the features you help define move from an operational problem discussed with a customer to a working solution being used in the field.
If you're a hands-on Product Owner who enjoys customers, complex operational problems and turning ideas into great software, we'd like to hear from you.
