Product Support Engineer 3

The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you’ll make

As a Product Support Engineer at Lam, you’re the backbone of technical support for field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel in the region. Your expertise is crucial in diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and debugging complex electro-mechanical equipment, computer systems, software, or networked and wireless systems. Your swift action in responding to situations is critical in resolving issues and ensuring satisfaction of Lam's valued customers.

What you’ll do

  • Serve as a technical expert and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Lam's Electrofill product portfolio, leading the resolution of complex customer escalations.
  • Partner with customers and account teams to investigate issues, perform root cause analysis, and present data-driven recommendations and solutions.
  • Act as the voice of the customer by collaborating with global engineering and factory teams to drive corrective actions and prevent recurring issues.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting efforts for highly sophisticated semiconductor equipment and process challenges.
  • Build strong customer relationships and establish trust through technical leadership, credible recommendations, and exceptional service.
  • Collaborate with Lam's global technical community, sharing best practices and contributing to worldwide knowledge development.
  • Mentor field and account engineers by providing technical guidance, coaching, and training.
  • Support field escalations across Lam's Electrofill product platforms.
  • Apply advanced engineering principles, analytical methods, and research techniques to investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Design and execute experiments to validate solutions, improve product performance, and support continuous innovation.
  • Own corrective action plans from problem identification through implementation, ensuring successful deployment to field organizations.
  • Communicate technical findings, project progress, and improvement plans to both customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to accelerate problem resolution and support fast-paced product development cycles.

Who we’re looking for

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across customers, engineering teams, and business functions.
  • Proven experience working directly with customers and managing challenging technical situations.
  • Comfortable working in cleanroom environments and following semiconductor industry safety protocols.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including cleanroom garments, respirators, and safety footwear.
  • Flexibility to support shift, standby, or on-call activities when required.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly in Deposition or electroplating technologies.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processes, vacuum systems, electrical circuits, fluidics, and process troubleshooting.
  • Experience performing statistical data analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Strong project leadership skills with the ability to drive cross-functional technical initiatives.
  • Passion for mentoring others and contributing to a collaborative engineering culture.

Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
