About the role
This role involves designing and developing control systems for audiovisual and automation projects. You will conduct proof of concept work, perform scope and risk assessments, write and deploy code for central control processors and UI/UX touch panels, and integrate IT and network systems. You will also research APIs and protocols, debug systems, and ensure all user interface controls execute correctly.
Key responsibilities
Conduct proof of concept (PoC) work including logic feasibility checking, pre-sales mockups and storyboarding design
Perform scope evaluation and risk assessment tasks: API and control protocol verification, software and driver licensing audit, and custom UI/UX scoping
Write and deploy code for central control processors (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron, or Q-SYS) and UI/UX touch panels
Configure control networks, manage IP addressing schemes for AV devices, and implement API/driver integrations for third-party systems
Program and self-check automated macros and individual controls
Test user interfaces alongside the Project/Technical Engineer to ensure all button presses execute the correct hardware commands
Review manuals of third-party products to find their control strings, hex codes, or REST APIs
Write clean, modular backend code using C#, Lua, Python, or proprietary languages like SIMPL Windows to convert single button presses into multiple complex machine commands
Program feedback loops for variable and state management
About you
Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or related disciplines
At least 3 years of experience in control system programming (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron or Q-SYS)
Proficient in C#, Lua, Python or SIMPL Windows
Familiar with AV device network configuration, IP addressing schemes and API/driver integrations
Strong logical thinking, analytical skills and attention to detail
Good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese
Mandarin is an advantage
