DHI Engineering, the internal engineering division for D.R. Horton, is seeking a Project Engineer (licensed PE) with proven land development experience to join our growing team. If you’re looking to take the next step in your career and gain greater ownership in land development design, permitting, and project execution, this is your chance to work on developments that shape entire communities from the ground up.

In this role, you will lead and support a variety of land development projects, applying regulatory design criteria to develop grading plans, drainage, utility, and roadway layouts for single-family subdivisions and multi-family projects. You will contribute to project success by aligning engineering decisions with company standards, project schedules, and permitting requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in management of a project team consisting of E.I.T.’s, CAD Designers and Technicians, Sub-consultants, and Contractors to successfully complete a project.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the financial and technical aspects of projects.
  • Assist in feasibility studies for project acquisitions, including concept planning, zoning analysis, preliminary grading, and cost estimating.
  • Facilitate the preparation of civil construction plans for multi-family and residential subdivisions for agency permitting and approvals.
  • Assist in the coordination of Construction Phase Services including site visits, submittal reviews, RFI coordination, and as-built reviews.
  • Coordinate and execute engineering services for assigned projects to include engineering reports, design calculations for infrastructure and drainage systems, overall grading, and pavement design.
  • Prepare hydrology and stormwater management reports in support of design and permitting approvals.
  • Prepare lot fit exhibits incorporating detailed house plans for single-family developments.
  • Identify, interpret, and resolve technical project issues with minimal oversight.
  • Analyze, interpret, and stay abreast of the latest regulations and criteria for local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Ability to travel overnight
