PROJECT ENGINEER
Summary:
This position will require working independently on challenging and demanding projects and is expected to complete engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. It will require project management to construct skids, lances, headers, showers, and systems from the initial design phase to the commission phase, including: fabricating, trouble-shooting, shipping, and testing. In addition, this position entails working with design engineers, manufacturing, purchasing, suppliers, and customers’ engineers to solve situational problems with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)
- Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plan with management.
- Determine project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements.
- Assign resources to phases and elements.
- Determine project specifications by understanding customer requirements, standards and constraints, including technical studies and site conditions.
- Confirm product performance by designing and conducting tests.
- Determine project schedule by studying project plan and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
- Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, plan, and schedule changes with recommended actions.
- Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and include recommended actions as needed.
- Manage effective and transparent communication with all project stakeholders.
- Perform engineering calculations for liquids and gases in pipes including, but not limited to pressure drops, allowable pressures, allowable fluid velocities.
- Specify and select equipment such as pump/fan and control valve specifications to meet customer and Lechler standards and specifications.
- Use sound judgment to apply design standards and specifications to determine the most cost-effective fabrication methods.
- Develop and apply Lechler standards and test procedures to validate required performance.
- Create functional descriptions and process flow diagrams for the automation/PLC programming of fluid handling equipment.
- Generate approval and fabrication drawings using Inventor and/or AutoCAD.
- Establish contact with the customer regarding ongoing projects.
- Commission projects that include mechanical and electrical components.
- Document, maintain, and organize files according to Lechler, Inc. QMS standards.
- Create operation manuals to meet Lechler and customer standards and specifications.
- General Project Management to include:
- Customer correspondence and visits
- Drawings and documentation
- Fabrication
- Cost control
- Quality
- Document all customer trip reports and fill out expense reports in a timely manner.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
