Project Engineer - Surface Pumping Units
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position would be responsible to contribute technically to the development of new products and to provide engineering support expertise to Weatherford’s Surface Pumping Unit products. The position is one of the main points of contact for the Product Development / Product Line groups and Customer Services team who determine the product requirements, as well as Manufacturing and their support team for making the products in line with the design parameters determined by Engineering. The role is measured by the successful leading of assigned engineering projects, and accurate interpretation of product specification into effective designs/drawings that can be used to manufacture the products against time and quality requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide technical support to the development of new products and technology related to Surface Pumping units involving all aspects of engineering from initial studies and concept development through to calculations, detailed design, Finite Element Analysis, prototype build and testing
Design components and sub-assemblies for Surface Pumping units to make them comply with industry standards and specifications like OSHA, ISO, AS and API. Manage Electrical control system design to comply with various Electrical codes and certification standards
Contribute to the evolution of new concepts for engineering solutions. Evaluate the feasibility of concepts using the engineering domain and technical knowledge. Perform feasibility studies and select a few suitable engineering concepts based on the results to obtain approval of the concepts to progress into preliminary design stage
Participate in design review of initial concepts to identify the best possible trade-off design and suggest design optimization for existing products. Conduct computer based Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of different components of Pumping Units and identify areas with high stress concentration and validate them
Provide design solutions to eliminate premature failures. Conduct various lab tests to gather baseline data, analyze the data and interpret useful information from each result
Provide technical support for the Surface pumping unit product lines including technical solutions to field issues, manufacturing support, sustaining projects and other related engineering activities. Perform root cause analysis of field failures. Use performance tracking systems to investigate and disposition Non-Conformance Reports
Lead the PDM system management of Surface Pumping Units
Interface with manufacturing/production department, field and engineering representatives to develop robust, transparent and cost-effective designs. Suggest template modification and manufacturing modifications based on lean engineering concepts
