Reports To – Operations Director

Position Summary

ZL Group, a global specialty chemicals company serving the oil and gas industry, is seeking a Project Manager to provide technical and project leadership across the full lifecycle of polymer enhanced oil recovery (EOR) injection projects in the GCC – from design, procurement and fabrication through installation, commissioning, start-up and operations. The role leads project execution and HSE on polymer injection units (PIU) and associated facilities, serves as a primary technical point of contact for new and existing GCC clients, and mentors junior engineers and project engineers.

The ideal candidate brings 8–10+ years of project engineering or project management experience in polymer EOR, chemical injection, produced water treatment or oil and gas facility projects, a visible personal commitment to HSE, and a track record of building trusted client relationships. Excellent project reporting and client communication skills, and the mobility to work at project sites across the GCC, are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project engineering for polymer EOR injection projects from award through start-up, including design review, procurement support, fabrication oversight, FAT/SAT, installation, commissioning, start-up and ongoing operations.
  • Coordinate engineering partners, vendors and fabrication yards to ensure technical packages meet client specifications and GCC industry requirements.
  • Manage interfaces between polymer injection units (PIU), water treatment packages and site civil/utility works.
  • Track project schedule, cost and technical risk; resolve issues through structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, escalating promptly.
  • Demonstrate visible, personal commitment to HSE and promote a strong HSE culture among project teams, contractors and vendors.
  • Lead or facilitate risk assessments and management-of-change reviews, and manage closure of review actions, client comments and safety audit findings.
  • Ensure designs incorporate appropriate safeguarding philosophies and process safety requirements.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with new and existing GCC clients, acting as a primary technical point of contact on assigned projects.
  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities within existing accounts and new client engagements.
  • Prepare clear, accurate and timely project reports, and present project status, risks and recommendations to senior management and clients.
  • Maintain project documentation, progress trackers and lessons-learned registers in line with client and company governance standards.
  • Provide technical input, engineering reviews and clarification responses for polymer EOR proposals and tenders.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project engineers through technical training, coaching and on-the-job guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in project engineering or project management, with direct exposure to polymer EOR, chemical injection, produced water treatment or oil and gas facility projects.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects from award through design, procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning and start-up.
  • Proven track record of building and sustaining client relationships, including with new GCC clients.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and project engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or professional project management certification (e.g., PMP).
  • Experience working with GCC operators and clients.
  • Industry experience in one or more of: polymer EOR; chemical injection systems and packages; produced water management and water treatment; oilfield chemical applications; process facilities design, fabrication and commissioning; GCC oil and gas project delivery.

Key Competencies

  • Strong understanding of polymer EOR processes, chemical injection systems and associated production facilities.
  • Experience reviewing process design packages and engineering deliverables for injection and water treatment systems.
  • Familiarity with engineering standards, process safety practices and risk management programs.
  • Strong, demonstrated personal commitment to HSE, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary discussions and drive actions to closure.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and the ability to represent ZL credibly in client-facing settings across the GCC.
  • Commercial awareness to identify and support new project opportunities.
  • Excellent project reporting and written and verbal communication skills across engineering, operations and client audiences.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capability, and the ability to influence technical and project decisions and drive team performance.

Physical & Field Requirements

This role requires extensive travel and the willingness and ability to be based at project sites across the GCC as required, including client facilities and fabrication yards during installation, commissioning and start-up.
