Project Manager / Project Engineer (Electrical / M&E)
Summary
Oversee and execute electrical/M&E projects for lighting installations, coordinating teams, suppliers, and site work while ensuring compliance with Singapore standards and energy efficiency targets.
Roles & Responsibilities
Key responsibilities
Project coordination & management
- Assist Project Manager in overall planning, coordination, and execution of electrical / M&E projects
- Prepare and manage work schedules, work orders, and construction programmes
- Coordinate with production teams, QA, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants
- Attend site progress meetings, technical discussions, and design coordination meetings
- Monitor and report on site installation progress, ensuring works are on schedule and within budget
- Follow up on material procurement, delivery schedules, and on-site logistics
Technical & site works
- Carry out site measurements, drawings coordination, and shop drawing reviews
- Resolve technical and site-related issues in a timely and practical manner
- Monitor quality of workmanship and ensure compliance with specifications and standards (SS638, IEC, BCA, NEA requirements)
- Supervise electrical installation works including LV/HV cabling, switchboards, containment systems, and earthing
Lighting design & dialux simulation
- Develop and prepare lighting design layouts for a wide range of project types including commercial, industrial, residential, and institutional buildings
- Perform photometric calculations and produce detailed lighting simulation reports using DIALux or DIALux evo
- Ensure lighting designs meet project specifications, lux level requirements, energy efficiency targets (e.g. BCA Green Mark, SS553), and client expectations
- Coordinate luminaire selection with suppliers, review photometric files (IES/LDT), and liaise with Electrical Consultants on design compliance
- Prepare lighting layout drawings and integrate DIALux outputs into project submissions and tender documents
- Evaluate and propose energy-efficient lighting solutions including LED systems and daylight harvesting strategies
Documentation & claims
- Assist in preparation and submission of progress claims, variation orders (VOs), and RFIs
- Maintain accurate site records, as-built drawings, test & commissioning documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality procedures, and company SOPs
- Manage and follow up on rectification works throughout the defects liability period (DLP)
Requirements
Essential
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
- Minimum 2 – 5 years of relevant experience in Electrical / M&E projects (fresh graduates with strong internship experience may be considered)
- Proficient in DIALux or DIALux evo for lighting simulation and photometric reporting
- Hands-on experience in lighting design for commercial, industrial, or institutional projects
- Knowledge of Singapore electrical standards (SS638, CP5, BCA Green Mark guidelines)
- Proficient in AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit MEP or BIM coordination is an advantage
Preferred / advantageous
- Experience in HDB, government, or large-scale commercial / A&A projects
- Familiarity with EMA licensing requirements and SP PowerGrid submission processes
- Knowledge of BCA Green Mark or LEED energy efficiency requirements
