Psychiatrist PRN - Acute Services (60006)
Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking skilled Psychiatrists PRN (as needed) to provide comprehensive psychiatric care for clients in our Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU). In this Daytime in-person role, you will conduct medication evaluations, manage medication, and provide psychiatric assessments as part of a collaborative team of prescribers. The ideal candidate is passionate about mental health care, eager to work with individuals in crisis, and enjoys collaborating with a team to deliver expert care. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while providing daily psychiatric care, psychotherapy, and social interventions to patients in need.
Schedule. This is an in-person position. Evaluations with patients must be completed face-to-face, the nurses on the unit need to be communicated with face-to-face, and the multi-disciplinary team meeting is also in-person on the CSU. We are looking for Psychiatrists to pick up shifts as needed from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Weekends and Holidays. Some weekday opportunities could arise when the primary CSU prescribers are on vacation or out sick.
Essential Functions:
- Provide direct medical and psychiatric services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of patients assigned, on a regular basis as within the scope of State care.
- Assure clinicians in assigned services receive appropriate clinical supervision, as necessary.
- Work with multidisciplinary staff to evaluate and triage according to level of acuity, as needed.
- Share 24-hour on call responsibilities with other psychiatrists for residential, outpatient and emergency care, as assigned.
- Maintain availability by telephone for face-to-face evaluation of emergency patients, as appropriate.
- Provide utilization review of all patients in continuing care to ensure appropriate medical/psychiatric services are received, as needed.
- Attend team and other meetings, as necessary.
- Provide consultation with other physicians and staff on patient care and difficult cases, as needed.
- Attend continuing medical education conferences to maintain excellent standards of care, on a regular basis.
- Understand and comply with organizational goals around quality, compliance, standards, and policies.
- Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
- Provide information to credentialing, payroll, etc. in a timely manner.
- Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
- Accurately and completely document patient care.
- Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with the other members of the clients care team.
