Public Health Analyst (Addiction Medicine Expert)

Summary

Analyzes and shapes public health policies on addiction medicine, drafting reports and briefings for Congress and agencies to improve behavioral health programs.

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, headquartered in Rockville, Maryland.

As a Public Health Analyst (Addiction Medicine Expert), you will: Serve as a special projects officer and conducts comprehensive research, review and analyses on a wide variety of behavioral health programs to provide a wide variety of complex reports, documents, and papers that address complex multi-functional issues in mental health, including addiction and substance use prevention and treatment. Research and evaluate key public health policies in behavioral health that are central to the bureau's or agency's mission. Review and assess the effectiveness of current public health policies in addiction prevention and treatment and determines where new or changed policies are required to effectively execute behavioral health programs, missions, and functions. Prepare Congressional testimony, policy documents, briefings, reports, summaries, responses to requests for information, and other substantive documents. Serve as a leading authority in addiction medicine and/or substance use prevention and treatment and integrates knowledge and experience of behavioral health programs and policies to provide guidance on cross cutting procedural and multilayered and multifaceted policy issues to other components of the agency and other governmental agencies.
