Python Backend Developer - Relocation to Cyprus

Summary

Build and maintain Python-based microservices for a fintech/payments platform, deploying on AWS and integrating APIs while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role is about: We are expanding our engineering capabilities and looking for a Backend Engineer to join our growing team.

Location: Cyprus — Onsite (employment contract with relocation support)

Reporting to: Group CTO

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain Python-based microservices in a distributed environment
  • Design and build scalable backend services with a focus on performance and reliability
  • Integrate third‑party APIs and external services into existing systems
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and DevOps teams to deliver new features and improvements
  • Work with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, cloud infrastructure) to build and deploy applications
  • Support deployments and system operations through CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
  • Contribute to code reviews and follow engineering best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in production environments
  • Contribute to improving system performance and handling increasing system load

What we need

  • 3+ years of experience in backend development with Python
  • Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful APIs
  • Hands‑on experience with FastAPI or Django
  • Familiarity with AWS (e.g., Lambda, cloud services)
  • Experience with Docker and containerised environments
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred)
  • Experience integrating third‑party APIs
  • Understanding of scalable and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a remote environment
  • Experience in fintech, payments, trading platforms, or high‑volume systems
  • Exposure to event‑driven architectures (Kafka, message queues, etc.)
  • Experience working with high‑load or high‑throughput systems

Hiring Process

  • Step 1 – Thinking in Action (40 minutes): Initial conversation with our Talent Acquisition team, followed by a short technical screening reviewed by engineering.
  • Step 2 – Build in Production (60‑90 minutes): Practical assessment with the Team Lead and technical experts, such as a live coding exercise or real‑world scenario.
  • Step 3 – Final Interview (45 minutes): Group interview with senior members of our Technology squad, including the CTO, CPO, and Team Lead, to discuss fit, collaboration style, expectations, and remaining questions.
