Summary

Builds and maintains web applications and APIs in Django, Flask or FastAPI, backed by PostgreSQL/MySQL and deployed in Docker, for client projects at a software house whose main stack is PHP. Day to day: writing data feeds/imports/reports between client systems, taking over existing Python code, testing, and peer code review.

Most of what we build is PHP, but not all of it. When a client's system is already written in Python, when the job is data processing or automation, or when the library that solves the problem only exists in Python, that is what we use. We pick the language that suits the client's team and their future, not our habits.

You will build and maintain web applications and APIs in Django, Flask or FastAPI, with PostgreSQL or MySQL behind them, in Docker containers on the hosting we run. The rules are the same as everywhere else here: the error path is written with the happy path, and code is reviewed before it ships.

What you will be doing

  • Build and maintain web applications and APIs in Django, Flask or FastAPI.
  • Write the services that move data between a client's systems: feeds, imports, reports.
  • Take over existing Python code, read it first, and change it without breaking what works.
  • Write tests for what you build, and the error handling to go with them.
  • Review colleagues' code and have yours reviewed.

What you will need

  • At least five years of commercial work in this field that you can show us. We promise clients that everyone on their project has that, so it is not negotiable.
  • Python web applications you shipped and supported, in at least one of Django, Flask or FastAPI.
  • SQL you write yourself, and an understanding of what the ORM is doing for you.
  • Environments and dependencies another developer can rebuild from the repository.
  • Git in daily use.

Useful, not required

  • Data work with pandas or similar, for reporting and analysis.
  • Docker, Linux and the basics of running what you build.
