QA Engineer (AI & Test Automation)

Salary: RM 5,500 – RM 8,000 per month

About the role

We are looking for an experienced mid level QA Engineer to own the testing of a product area end to end — planning it, testing it, automating it, and standing behind what goes live.

Our QA team is at the forefront of using AI in testing. We build our own tooling: it drafts test plans and cases from requirements, runs the tests, and reports the bugs it finds. It is still growing, and you will help improve it. Nothing ships on the tooling's word alone — the engineer who owns the work reviews and approves it.

The role suits someone who thinks like a developer about how a feature is built and like a tester about how it could break.

A technical background is required: you should be able to read and understand code, and see how a feature is built from the developer's side.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review each requirement with product owners, project managers and developers — confirm your understanding with its owner, challenge it when it is unclear, untestable or wrong, and record decisions as it changes, including those made in meetings and chat groups.

  • Write each test plan with our AI tooling, then own the cases — add what is missing, cut what is wrong, and approve the final set.

  • Build and maintain automated UI and API tests (Playwright, Midscene and in-house API tools), and repair them when they raise false alarms or break after a product change.

  • Run progression, regression, API and stress testing — automation first, by hand where automation falls short — and add negative, abuse and exploratory testing. Diagnose each failure as a real defect, a script problem or an environment issue.

  • Run a test readiness check before testing starts — the right build, test accounts and test data in place — and flag any gaps. Then take each release through every stage — the test environment, pre-production and, once it is live, production — without affecting real users or live data.

  • Report defects with clear steps and evidence to the team responsible, escalate urgent ones and retest every fix — challenging developers when a fix, or a “not a bug” reply, is not right.

  • Share your progress daily, and publish a test report for each release: pass, fail or conditional pass, with the risks that remain.

  • Keep your cases, automation and documentation current, in the structured form our AI tooling uses, and turn every defect that reaches production into a new test case.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of hands-on software testing, including owning a module or product area end to end.

  • Testing experience on desktop web, mobile web (H5) and native iOS and Android apps, including device builds, real devices and device logs.

  • Experience creating and maintaining automated UI and API tests — not only running them — with Playwright or an equivalent framework.

  • An understanding of how software is designed and built — front end, APIs, services and data — well enough to see a feature from the developer's side and spot where it is likely to break.

  • Able to read and understand code in a common language such as Python, Java, JavaScript or C / C++ — to trace what a change does and where it could break.

  • Comfortable reading logs and API responses.

  • A track record of clear, thorough test plans and test cases.

  • Practical AI skills — you use AI tools daily, write your own prompts, and judge what they produce rather than accepting it.

  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail — quick to learn, able to work independently, and confident enough to raise concerns early.

  • Clear written and verbal communication, and comfortable working across teams.

  • Able to support release testing when a deployment window falls outside regular office hours.

  • A Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Computer / Telecommunication), Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent field. Software Engineering graduates are preferred.

  • Required Language(s): English, Mandarin (you will liaise with Mandarin-speaking counterparts).

Good to have:

  • Some hands-on experience building AI agents, or the tools, instructions and workflows they run on.

  • A track record of improving how a whole team tests — finding a slow or repetitive step and making it faster for everyone.

  • Fundamentals in networking, databases, programming, system design or UI/UX design.

  • A software testing certification, such as ISTQB.

How this career will benefit you:

  • Real ownership. Your product areas are yours end to end — the plan, the cases, the automation and the call on quality.

  • An AI-first, automation-first workflow. You work with AI-assisted planning, case generation and automation every day — still rare hands-on experience.

  • A growth path. Progression into senior QA engineering or QA leadership — the step up comes from improving how the whole team works.

Benefits of this role:

  • Permanent, full-time position

  • 13th Month Salary (upon Company Declaration)

  • Project Incentive (upon Company Declaration based on project performance)

  • Competitive overtime pay for release work outside office hours

  • Transport, Meal, Birthday Allowances (upon Confirmation)

  • Sports Activities, Company Trip

  • Medical Insurance (upon Confirmation)

  • Optical, Dental, Body Check Up Claim (upon Confirmation)
