QA Engineer - Manual Tester (Contract)

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories to identify test scenarios.

• Participate in requirement review sessions to ensure clarity and testability.

• Estimate testing effort for assigned tasks and contribute to overall test planning.

• Design comprehensive test cases, test scenarios, and test data based on functional and non-functional requirements.

• Maintain clear, structured, and reusable test documentation.

• Review test cases with the QA team, developers, and business users (if required).

• Execute manual test cases across various environments (Dev, SIT, UAT, Pre-Prod).

• Perform functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance support.

• Validate bug fixes and perform re-testing as needed.

• Identify, analyze, and document defects clearly with step-by-step reproduction details.

• Log defects in tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, Redmine).

• Work closely with developers and business analysts to clarify issues and ensure timely resolution.

• Collaborate with the development team to understand technical behavior and dependencies.

• Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and testing sync meetings.

• Communicate test progress, risks, and blockers to the project team.

• Ensure deliverables meet the quality standards defined by the organization or project.

• Suggest improvements for test processes, test coverage, and workflow efficiency.

• Help maintain and improve QA documentation, templates, and testing guidelines.

• Assist business users during UAT cycles.

• Provide training or walkthroughs of test scenarios when required.

• Capture and validate UAT feedback and coordinate fixes with development teams.

• Perform basic usability, compatibility, and exploratory testing.

• Validate system readiness in terms of performance on manual level (not deep performance tools).

• Verify the readiness of test environments before execution.

• Prepare and maintain required test data for different test cycles.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in writing test cases, test scenarios, test plans, and test reports.

• Good knowledge of functional, regression, integration, system, and UAT testing.

• Basic understanding of API concepts (able to test with Postman is a plus).

• Familiarity with defect tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, Redmine).

• Basic SQL for data validation (SELECT queries).

• Understanding of browser dev tools for troubleshooting UI issues.

• Experience testing on multiple platforms (Web, Mobile, or Desktop).

• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or defects.

• Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into test scenarios.

• Good investigative skills to analyze root causes (at least at a user-level).

• Familiarity with continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).

• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and QA methodologies.

• Solid experience with version control systems such as Git.

• Ability to write clear and concise bug reports and communicate findings effectively to development teams.

• Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and how they affect testing strategies.

• Experience with API testing (REST/SOAP) and tools like Postman or similar.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in an Agile environment.
