QA Engineer (Middle / Middle+)

About the Role

This role requires a strong combination of hands-on testing skills, system thinking, and the ability to independently investigate issues across multiple layers (API, database, logs, mobile).

You will work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure product quality, reliability, and transparency of system behavior.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform API, backend, and mobile testing across multiple environments
• Validate business logic and data consistency across services
• Investigate issues using logs, metrics, and database queries
• Create clear, reproducible, and technically complete bug reports
• Collaborate with developers to identify root causes of issues
• Contribute to test automation and continuous improvement of QA processes

Requirements

API Testing

• Strong knowledge of REST APIs
• Experience with Postman / Insomnia
• Ability to validate:
o JSON schemas
o response logic (FastAPI-based services)

Databases

• Writing SQL queries (PostgreSQL) for data validation
• Understanding of transactions, especially in booking-related flows

Observability & Monitoring

• VictoriaLogs / VictoriaMetrics
o Ability to find and analyze request logs using Trace ID

• Grafana
o Experience working with dashboards
o Understanding of:
▪ error rates (4xx / 5xx)
▪ basic performance metrics

Git & CI/CD

• Basic Git commands (clone, checkout, pull)
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) and test execution across environments

Mobile Testing (High Priority)

• Experience testing iOS and Android applications
• Understanding of React Native specifics (as a plus)
• Working with:
o emulators/simulators (Xcode, Android Studio)
o real devices

Debugging tools:

• Flipper / Charles / Proxyman for traffic interception and modification

Crash analytics:

• Experience with tools like Sentry

Bug Reporting & Environment Context

• Ability to create structured and reproducible bug reports
• Clear understanding of differences between Staging and Production environments
• Ability to reproduce issues considering data inconsistencies between environments

Technical completeness (must-have):

• Attaching logs (VictoriaLogs) and relevant Grafana metrics for critical issues
• Providing precise reproduction steps
• For mobile issues:
o OS version
o device model
o app build version

AI Usage in QA (Nice to Have / Plus)

• Writing prompts to generate automated tests (e.g., Pytest, Playwright, Appium)
• Using LLMs to:
o generate test cases from documentation
o analyze API specs
• Applying AI for:
o test code refactoring
o mock generation for external services

Domain Knowledge (TravelTech – Plus)

• Understanding of booking lifecycle:
o creation → payment → confirmation → cancellation
• Experience testing integrations with external providers and gateways
• Localization testing:
o languages
o date/time formats
