QA/QC Inspector

Job Summary

The QA/QC Inspector is a hands-on role responsible for carrying out inspections and quality checks on materials, fabrication activities, welds, and finished products to ensure they meet drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project requirements. Working closely with the QA/QC Technician and QA/QC Manager, you will support day-to-day quality control activities on the workshop floor and project sites. This is a practical role suited to someone who enjoys being involved directly in fabrication and inspection work and wants to develop their career in Quality Assurance and Quality Control within the engineering, marine, and offshore industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated steel components and assemblies to verify compliance with approved drawings and specifications
  • Inspect materials, welds, fabrication work, and finished products against quality standards and project requirements
  • Conduct routine quality checks throughout fabrication and production processes to ensure consistent product quality
  • Use inspection and measuring tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, measuring tapes, and weld gauges to check dimensions, alignment, fit-up, weld appearance, and workmanship
  • Assist QA/QC Technician and Manager with inspections, testing, and quality control activities on workshop and project sites
  • Conduct weld inspections and verify welding activities according to applicable standards and procedures
  • Support Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) activities and coordinate with personnel or third-party inspectors as needed
  • Identify and report defects, deviations, and non-conformances to QA/QC Technician or Manager promptly
  • Prepare and maintain inspection records, checklists, reports, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) documentation accurately
  • Ensure inspection equipment and measuring instruments are properly maintained and calibrated for reliable results
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and inspection requirements to guide quality checks
  • Collaborate with production, workshop, engineering, and project teams to resolve quality issues effectively
  • Support client and third-party inspections when required to ensure compliance with project standards
  • Follow company procedures and safety regulations to carry out all inspection activities safely
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and quality control initiatives within workshop and project environments

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Previous experience in QA/QC inspection, steel fabrication, marine, offshore, shipyard, or manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, dimensional inspection, or quality checking
  • Basic understanding of welding processes and inspection requirements
  • Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, inspection methods, and non-conformance reporting
  • CSWIP 3.1 certification or equivalent
  • NDT-related knowledge or certification
  • SSSC (Shipyard Supervisors Safety Course) certification
  • Good attention to detail and ability to identify defects or deviations
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work in workshop, fabrication, and project site environments
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally depending on project requirements

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Saturday: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
  • 5.5-day work week
