Sobre el rol

At Staffy, we're seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join an international project focused on defining and driving the overall quality strategy for a modern software delivery program. In this role, you'll own the quality architecture, automation strategy, and testing standards across the program. You'll define scalable QA frameworks, establish risk-based testing approaches, and ensure quality is embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. Working closely with the client's QA leadership, you'll provide technical guidance to the automation team, mentor SDETs, and help build a mature, sustainable quality engineering practice. This is a highly strategic, hands-on technical leadership role for someone passionate about quality engineering, test architecture, and continuous improvement.

Responsabilidades

  • Define and own the overall Quality Engineering strategy, including Shift-Left practices, testing pyramid adoption, and quality gates across CI/CD pipelines
  • Establish automation framework standards, coding conventions, and test traceability practices
  • Lead the adoption of BDD/Gherkin, ensuring automated test cases are linked to business requirements and ticket IDs
  • Design a risk-based regression strategy, including smoke tests, critical-path suites, regression coverage, and exploratory testing guidelines
  • Define quality governance metrics, including automation coverage, escaped defects, regression cycle time, automation stability, and quality dashboards
  • Lead the initial technical assessment and define the phased QA roadmap for the program
  • Collaborate directly with the client's QA leadership on quality initiatives and strategic decisions
  • Mentor and coach SDETs and QA Engineers through technical guidance, pairing sessions, and best practices
  • Promote continuous improvement across testing processes, automation architecture, and engineering quality standards
  • Drive quality-focused technical decisions while balancing delivery speed, risk, and maintainability

Requisitos

  • 6+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or Test Automation
  • At least 2–3 years of experience in a QA Technical Lead, QA Architect, or Automation Architecture role
  • Strong expertise designing test automation strategies based on the Testing Pyramid, with API and integration testing as the foundation
  • Hands-on experience with BDD/Gherkin and defining traceability between requirements, user stories, and automated test cases
  • Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of Quality Engineering best practices, Shift-Left testing, and risk-based testing methodologies
  • Proven technical leadership experience mentoring automation engineers and driving engineering standards
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions and architectural trade-offs to both technical and business stakeholders
  • Professional English (written and spoken) for daily interaction with international clients and distributed teams

Deseables

  • Experience leading legacy automation migrations (for example, Selenium to Playwright)
  • Experience implementing Performance Testing as Code using k6 or JMeter
  • Experience with BrowserStack App Automate or other cloud-based device testing platforms
  • Familiarity with enterprise environments using TFS, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, and Azure OpenShift
  • Experience defining quality governance models and enterprise QA maturity initiatives
