QC Inspector - Coating

General Characteristics (Job Summary)

• Responsible for performing quality activities in accordance with quality management system established.
• Establish inspection and test plans and its record forms as per project requirements and international codes & standards.
• Carry out inspections on discipline responsible to determine whether work performed conforms to quality requirements, and recording its result.
• Ensure inspection status is controlled through efficient tools such as inspection matrix.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Managing and performing inspection of Coating discipline.
• Generate client Requests For Inspection (RFI) where required providing sufficient notice for hold, witness and inspection points.
• Prepare / Review the following Quality procedure documents submitted by the Subcontractors such are Inspection Test Plan (ITP), Material Approval Request (MAR).
• Prepare / Review / Approve the related inspection reports where inspection results are recorded.
• Controlling inspection status by using systematic tools such as inspection matrix.
• Setting and applying practical inspection process of particular discipline based on Project requirements and International Codes (providing ITP & managing Matrix).
• Control NCRs to be closed out within the due date and supporting to prepare Corrective Action Plan properly.
• Performing and coordinating inspection with client.
• Carry out QC Supervisor’s responsibility in their absence.
• Control quality violations through regular tool box talk with the construction team.
• Review and track material submittals required for Coating Definable Features of Work prior to Preparatory Meetings.
• Conduct Preparatory Meetings with Sub-contractors related to Coating Definable Features of Work.
• Inspect incoming material deliveries by confirming specifications and compliance with approved submittals, conduct visual and measurement tests in conjunction with the onsite logistics team.
• Reject and facilitate the return of unacceptable materials.
• Ensure to apply lessons learnt and proper preventive action conducted.
• Monitor weather condition for surface preparation and painting / coating application.
• Inspect and assess the condition of protective coatings applied to Plant and equipment at the required frequency. Assure conformity with the Company’s technical coating specifications and codes of Plant Inspection, and compile written reports on findings along with recommendations.
• Prepare and perform corrosion surveys in regard to ongoing coating programmes and maintain comprehensive records.

Education and Certification

• Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• Certificate related to Coating discipline.

Experience

• From project start to completion in GCC Oil & Gas field Projects.
• Technical knowledge and familiar with related international codes and standards in particular discipline.
• Able to check that suitable and appropriate inspection and test tools are used.
• Investigate and analyze nonconformities and observations and figuring out solutions.
• Capability of planning and controlling inspections for medium scale project (0.5~1.5 billion dollar).
