Quality Assurance Tech

Summary

Performs daily quality checks, sanitation verification, and documentation for a food-production facility during day-shift operations.

The Quality Assurance Technician supports daily quality assurance and food safety activities during day-shift production and distribution operations. This role executes clearly defined quality checks, sanitation and documentation verification, and supports customer/vendor quality inquiries under the direction of the Director of Food Safety and Quality. The Technician is expected to follow established procedures and escalate any non-routine or ambiguous quality issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform scheduled in-process and pre-shipment quality checks for day-shift production and distribution against written criteria.
  • Verify daily sanitation, GMP, and environmental monitoring logs are completed accurately and filed appropriately.
  • Support documentation and follow-up for customer or vendor quality inquiries received during the day, under Director guidance.
  • Maintain and restock quality-control stations, testing supplies, and reference materials.
  • Review incoming shift handoff log at start of shift and complete an outgoing handoff log before end of shift.
  • File and organize complete quality records daily to maintain current, audit-ready documentation.
  • Assist with complaint log data entry and corrective action follow-up documentation as assigned.
  • Support document control by verifying current, approved versions of specifications and procedures are posted at workstations.
  • Escalate any non-conforming product, customer/vendor communication, or equipment/CCP deviation to the Director of Food Safety and Quality rather than resolving independently; the Quality Assurance Lead may be consulted as a technical resource but does not hold formal supervisory authority over this role.
