Quality Engineering Lead
Summary
Lead a Quality Engineering team to design and implement automated test infrastructure and AI-driven quality checks, ensuring speed and reliability across web, mobile, and backend systems.
What You’ll Do:
- Formulate company-wide Quality Engineering strategies and build development environments that ensure quality without sacrificing development speed, particularly in development leveraging AI agents.
- Design and implement automated testing infrastructure, test data management, quality checks within CI/CD, and continuous feedback mechanisms.
- Develop environments where not only developers but also AI agents can detect the impact of changes and quality issues, leading to automated fixes.
- Continuously measure test coverage, test execution status, defect detection rates, production defect leakage, and incidents to visualize the state of development speed and quality.
- Identify quality issues and bottlenecks through data analysis and drive improvements in development processes, test strategies, architecture, and tools.
- Collaborate with individual development teams to establish processes and operations that allow teams to autonomously improve quality in their daily development.
- Lead the technology selection, design, implementation, and review of test automation and quality infrastructure in a hands-on capacity.
- Manage the team, including mentoring, goal setting, performance evaluation, and hiring for members involved in Quality Engineering.
- Partner with Product Managers and development teams to define what quality means for the product and drive the design of signals and metrics to track that state.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience in software development or test automation as a Software Engineer, SET, SDET, QA Engineer, or Quality Engineer.
- Experience in test design and implementation for web applications, mobile applications, or backend systems.
- Knowledge and practical experience in multi-layer test automation, including unit, integration, E2E, and API testing.
- Experience integrating automated tests and quality checks into CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to design and implement test infrastructure, development tools, or business systems using programming languages.
- Experience analyzing data related to test coverage, defects, incidents, and release quality to drive improvements.
- Experience driving technical and organizational improvements by involving multiple development teams and stakeholders.
- Experience managing engineering or Quality Engineering teams.
- Fluent communication skills in Japanese.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in software development utilizing AI coding agents or Generative AI.
- Experience introducing AI agents for code generation, test generation, code reviews, or quality analysis.
- Experience in quality improvement or building test infrastructure for large-scale or high-traffic services.
- Experience designing test strategies for multiple platforms, including mobile applications.
- Experience defining, visualizing, and operating quality metrics or Engineering Metrics.
- Knowledge of Shift Left Testing, the test pyramid, continuous testing, and Observability.
- Experience establishing QA as a shared responsibility of the entire development team rather than an independent verification phase.
- Experience collaborating with Product Managers to define product quality, including reliability, performance, and usability, beyond just functional requirements.
- Experience collaborating with global teams using English.
