Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities
- Collaborate across multiple disciplines and departments to come up with innovating new ideas and new technologies.
- Firmware specification development, design, coding, testing, and debugging.
- Firmware roadmap for all current and future projects.
- Design firmware architectures for successful embedded systems projects with regards to system functionality, customer satisfaction, schedule, time, and budget.
- Provide day to day direction and oversight to other firmware engineers.
- Create and manage firmware requirements, development schedules, identify risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Develop firmware for RTOS applications.
- Troubleshoot bugs using a real-time debugger/ICE and firmware logs.
- Define embedded systems processes, standards, and best practices.
- Document functional specifications to support embedded systems projects.
- Remain up to date on all industry trends and new research in order help train and develop team members.
- Track projects and report progress and issues to the engineering manager.
- Ensure we meet and exceed our customers’ expectations through superior design and implementation.
- Work with management to prioritize projects on a macro level; prioritize individual tasks on your own, and to develop process standards within the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor / Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical/Computer Science Engineering.
- 4+ years of experience with at least 3+ years in implementing and leading embedded firmware solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience in C, C++, Python, and other common development languages.
- Demonstrated experience on Microcontroller Firmware, Embedded Systems, and Real-Time Operating System (RTOS).
- Significant experience with communication standards and protocols (UART, I2C, CAN, SPI, USB).
- Extensive experience using hardware troubleshooting tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer).
- Driving the team to learn and research new projects and technologies.
- Aptitude for hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals and a good understanding of architecture, design, and performance.
- Exposure to Autonomous Vehicles, Robotics, Automation, etc. a plus.
