READY MIX DRIVER (SEASONAL)

ROLE OVERVIEW:
This is a seasonal position, you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round.
As a Ready Mix Driver, you are responsible to operate a heavy duty truck with mixer drum to provide products and delivery services to customers at job sites in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
Typical schedule is Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM with frequent Saturday work June - October.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)
- Perform daily truck inspections and report needed repairs
- Daily maintenance of equipment
- Drives truck under loading hopper to receive sand, gravel, cement and water and starts mixer adjusting ready mix to proper slump, rinsing down loading area and cleaning off material spilled on outside of drum
- Drives truck equipped with auxiliary concrete mixer to deliver concrete mix to job sites:
- Drives truck to location for unloading, attaches chutes then unloads concrete
- Cleans truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck, using water hose or (where applicable) hazardous materials including hydrochloric or muratic acid.
- Drives trucks including ready mix, septic, block and aggregate materials
- Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment
- Clean and maintain truck
- Add value-added supplies, such as re-rod, chloride or sealers, etc as needed
- Make contact with customer on job site for unloading instructions and secure signature on load invoice
- Adjust moisture to contractor’s requirements and note changes made to the product and any weather and environmental conditions on the load ticket for quality assurance
- Ensure proper use of truck tracking software
- Be able to work without direct supervision
- Work with central dispatch or plant person for daily schedule
- Secure (lock) truck appropriately on job site and at end of shife (where applicable)
- May be required or asked to volunteer for extra hours, weekends, holidays, nights or overnight travel
- Report information accurately and completely on daily time cards and other needed paperwork
- Maintain proper information in truck cab and perform daily housekeeping in truck cab
- Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance including attending training
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Basic knowledge of truck tracking/dispatching software.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (minimum educational, experience, or other relevant job requirements)
- A CDL Class B license with two years truck driving experience. Preference given for experience driving a ready mix truck. Must maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and where applicable proper endorsement
- General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of world events and acceptable interpersonal communication skills
- Must be self-motivated, team-player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward others.
COMPENSATION:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour depending on experience
